Step 1: Pre-Lesson Activity
Before you start this lesson, choose a pre-lesson activity to get your heart and mind prepared!
Option A
Instructions: Take a minute to answer the following questions. Discuss with your group.
If you could go back in time and witness Jesus or His apostles work a miracle, which miracle would you like to witness? Why?
What is drawing you into taking this program? What do you hope to learn over the next few lectures?
Option B
Instructions: Read the following passage. After praying silently, answers the following questions in writing.
There are… special graces, also called charisms after the Greek term used by St. Paul and meaning “favor,” “gratuitous gift,” “benefit.” Whatever their character -- sometimes it is extraordinary, such as the gift of miracles or of tongues -- charisms are oriented toward sanctifying grace and are intended for the common good of the Church. They are at the service of charity which builds up the Church. (p 20)
Questions:
What charisms have you noticed in your life?
Which ones would you like to grow in?
Do extraordinary charisms occur in the Church today? Why or why not?
